Though Greater Goods co-owner Pam Morales has a degree in mechanical engineering and worked in television broadcasting for many years, her passion lies with fibre art – in particular, crocheted dolls. “I taught myself to crochet because I wanted to make things for my daughters,” says Pam.  ”I enjoyed it so much, I started selling them at markets.”

Pam's passion for crochet led her to operating her own mobile retail truck, out of which she sold handmade goods by local artisans at city festivals. Because of the positive reception she received, Pam opened a stall called Crafted at the Calgary Farmers' Market in 2015.

When a retail character space became available in Bridgeland, Pam took her passion for promoting locally made goods one step further. She opened Greater Goods in February 2016 with Nicole Bracey of Salt Water Tea jewellery. "She knew I had always daydreamed about owning a local shop, and when she asked me to partner up, I jumped at the chance," says Nicole, who started her line of jewellery as a "creative outlet" after graduating from the Alberta College of Art and Design.
