A combined love of travel and other cultures is the inspiration behind this unique specialty shop on Kensington Road. Mañana Imports & Gifts is a family-run business that was started in 1990 by Stephen Burger and Susanne Lauridsen. It's founded on the idea of sharing what they discovered on their travels together. “We started on speculation to see how it would go,” says Stephen. “One thing led to another and we were able to develop the business.”
The couple had travelled extensively in Central and South America and that was the main focus of Mañana Imports & Gifts at first, but over time more areas of the world were featured. “Over the years we got more eclectic and brought in items from more countries,” says Stephen. “We now bring in products from 20 countries all over the world. We probably have more diversity in products than anywhere else.” In the store you'll find gifts, crafts and clothing handmade in countries like Thailand, Nepal and Vietnam.
