What do you call a darkened room with pounding club music, a glittering disco ball and men and women sweating up a storm? This isn’t a nightclub, but rather an invigorating, high-cardio spin class at One Cycle Spin Studio. Owners and instructors Paul and Elmira Barry and their team lead high-energy choreographed classes in Calgary’s first “dance party on a bike.”
The Barrys opened their Fourth Street Southwest studio in 2012 with a whole-body workout in mind. It’s not just your legs that are moving, your upper body is getting a workout as well. It’s a fun, exhilarating workout in a welcoming environment. “We love fitness and we wanted to create a space where people wouldn’t dread working out and feel intimidated,” says Elmira, also owner and instructor of Hot Yoga on 17th and Hot Yoga on Crowfoot. “It’s a place where everyone is welcome; a place where we support and encourage one another.”
