In her basement studio, Sandra Paetsch manipulates silver and bronze clay into beautiful pendants for her jewelry business, Orange Avocado. The main wall inside her workspace is filled with drawings and handwritten letters her children, made many years ago. A mother of two, artist and entrepreneur, Sandra once led a very different life.
Prior to making jewelry, Sandra worked as a speech pathologist. She collaborated with a variety of health care professionals in the brain injury program at the Alberta Hospital Ponoka and worked at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital. She left this line of work to pursue Orange Avocado in 2008. While making jewelry brought many wonderful things into her life, being able to drop what she’s doing and be there for her family whenever necessary tops the list.
