Meet the owner

Gordon Gidora and Crystal Orlecky opened The Cajun House in 1991. When they first started out, they noticed that locals were initially wary of the “spicy” cuisine. “Sure, there are some spicy dishes,” says Gordon, the chef and co-owner. “But that’s not all of the menu items here. Cajun and Creole cuisine is flavourful – not always spicy. We cater to many different palates and diets, especially with the intensity of the spice.”

Considering the food allergies that crop up when serving a diverse population, Gordon and Crystal make sure to put a lot of care and attention into the food they serve. “We have never had a complaint about an allergic reaction from our food,” Gordon informs. “Because we make everything fresh, we can closely control what goes into each dish.”

Best place I've eaten in years

This restaurant has great food. We have returned several times and have never been disappointed in any dish we've tried including the specials they run. The service is always good. Reservations are recommended. They can serve larger groups efficiantly.

Gotta-try restaurants in St. Albert

Gotta-try restaurants in St. Albert

A staple in St. Albert dining for many years, the Cajun House offers superb Cajun and Creole cuisine. Gumbo, jambalaya, crab cakes, po-boys … the menu is chalk full of wonderful food options that’ll really hit the spot when you’re looking for something different than the usual burgers or pizza. The Cajun House offers a “petite” (small) sized version of many of their favourite entrees, for those who want to enjoy some big Louisiana taste on a smaller scale.

Edmonton’s oyster bars worth trying

Edmonton’s oyster bars worth trying

The best Cajun and Creole dining with some amazing food. Try the oyster po-boy with alfalfa sprouts, tomatoes and, of course, deep fried, breaded oysters. We recommend getting the side of gumbo - you won’t regret it.
