Marilynn vividly remembers her first visit to the Dr. Gerald Wittenberg Facial & Laser Surgery Centre. Scared by celebrities with unnatural-looking faces, the 67-year-old admits she was initially nervous about going under the knife. “What I instantly liked about Dr. Wittenberg is that he was realistic … he didn’t promise miracles and he told me what I could expect from a face-lift,” she says, adding she had a face-lift and eyelid recontouring in 2013. “I did not want to look younger; I just wanted a more refreshed version of myself.”
She has been thrilled with the natural looking results. “I feel great. I look in the mirror and that old woman isn’t looking back at me,” she says laughing. “I was nervous about undergoing the procedure but I completely trusted Dr. Wittenberg.”
What sets Dr. Wittenberg apart from other plastic surgeons is his extensive training. He has nearly 25 years experience in facial surgery and is a certified specialist in oral and maxillofacial surgery, with extensive understanding of complex reconstructive and cosmetic facial surgery. He received the prestigious gold medal for outstanding achievement during his studies at the University of British Columbia, and has a master’s degree combining the study of craniofacial surgery with anatomy and physiology.
As he sits to chat in his No. 3 Road office in Richmond about why he got into cosmetic surgery, Dr. Wittenberg explains: “It was a natural transition to get into aesthetics – I truly enjoy helping people look and feel their very best.”
