This Place Roars!

Whenever you see a "family restaurant" close to Highway 1, just keep on driving because it's guaranteed to be another gastronomical car wreck. However, the Wildcat Grill is one place that's worth getting off the freeway for. I wish I discovered this gem years ago. Located right across from the Minter Gardens - it's easy to find and should not be missed. The Wildcat is a good place for carnivores - their burgers are huge. Entrees are generally on the larger side, which is good for the outdoorsy types coming home from a hike, a skiing trip from Manning Park, etc. I usually order a repeat of my favourite - the onion soup/caesar salad combo. The soup is a bouquet of rich flavour - obviously made from scratch - and I'd kill for the recipe. The salad is always crisp with just enough dressing and lots of parmesan. (I can't stand the other cheapo places who throw a few fingernail clippings of parmesan on wilted greens, pour on some commercial dressing and call that a caesar.) You won't find that at the Wildcat. The atmosphere is good - the fireplace is usually on and there is a good-sized outdoor patio. Love the giant candy dish on the way out ; grab a coupleto chew on as you make your way back to the city while wondering, "I wish that place was a little closer to home."

Fine quality, wholesome food!

After a weekend of cycling around Princeton we found the service and quality of food unexpectedly good for a stop on the way home early Sunday evening. The menu seemed to offer lots of choices for people on special diets like me. Having Celiac i found the Tai Grilled Chicken salad and a basket of potato wedges with different dips a perfect meal.
