Meet the owner

Here’s a word for you: numismatics. It means the study or collection of coins and bills and, with stamp collecting, it’s a passion for Brian Grant Duff and his confederates in a thriving subculture. Brian is the proprietor of All Nations Stamps & Coins, a shop filled to the brim with stamps, old currency and sundry other collectibles.

“We do appraisals — a free look-over of stamps, coins, postcards, hockey cards and related collectibles,” says Brian. That’s quite a wide field of expertise, and All Nations boasts staff members “with a combined experience of 60 years,” according to Brian.

Appraisals are just the jumping-off point for his business. “We may buy material from people if they want to sell it, we may include it in our weekly or monthly auctions or we may give them a professional referral.” For estate appraisals or for those people not looking to sell, such as in an insurance valuation, there is a more formal process, including official documentation and a fee. “But we’re quick, we’re fair and we’re very experienced,” says Brian

    Very helpful!

This company is very friendly/ willing to look up values. If they can't find it, they will gladly refer you on to specific companies who can. Since our case was for the replacement value on an insurance claim, they gladly did this even without knowing yet if they would be getting further business from us. I highly recommend them. Thanks!

There may be no more wholesome or iconic an activity than stamp collecting. It's the prototypical collector's obsession, with a vintage flair now that most of our mailing is done electronically. You could always kick start a fledgling collection by picking up a roll of Canadian stamps from the post office, but All Nations Stamps & Coins on Dunbar will direct you to some rare finds. Their weekly auction could nab you a 19th-century paid postage piece from Great Britain, or maybe you'd like to look into the future with a run of Star Trek stamps. Coin collectors frequent here too – and can make a mint appraising their collection in store.

This is one of the very best places to go for rare collectibles, and not just in Vancouver. Located in Dunbar, All Nations is a jam-packed treasure trove filled with much more than stamps and coins (although there are certainly plenty of those here too). Owner Brian Grant Duff brings decades of experience to the table; he’s friendly, honest and a great guy to talk to.
