You know what they say about oysters (wink, wink). Aphrodisiac side effects aside, the magnificent molluscs at Oyster Express will definitely be a hit with shellfish-loving couples. Situated on the eastern edge of Chinatown, this cozy 16-seat oyster bar has subtle nautical theme (note the round porthole window overlooking the street) and a friendly atmosphere that makes it feel like a true neighbourhood gem. Premium local oysters are delivered daily and freshly shucked onsite. In addition to oysters, the menu features seafood alternatives like steamed mussels and candied salmon. Don’t miss the buck-a-shuck Happy Hour and daily drink specials.

Outstanding oyster bars in Vancouver
On the edge of Chinatown, this little corner spot has some of the most interesting oysters in town. The culinary team often sources outside the Pacific Northwest, even to as far away as New Zealand when the time is right. On Tuesdays during the winter months, Happy Hour is on until 9:00 pm and there’s always an oyster special daily. In addition to the wide selection of cleanly shucked oysters, I recommend sampling the mussels, soups and the oh-so-comforting grilled cheese sandwich.

Let’s get one thing straight – oysters are the main focus here. They love oysters but don’t let the name fool you, as there is nothing rushed or express about them. Oyster Express hosts buck-a-shuck specials on certain days of the week, as well as a number of other daily specials. That being said, I have never left without trying at least one of every type that they serve. It’s a small joint that packs a big punch, and definitely the best spot in Vancouver to check out for oysters.
