Prince Rupert is a small city with ambitious hopes for the Future. 2010 was the 100 year anniversary of our city's incorporation. We have a population of approximately 13,000 year round that grows in the summer months with people working in the tourism and fishing industries. The population works in services, teaching, gambling, fish processing and retail stores. Prince Rupert is a base for mining workers and loggers and fishermen and retired folks. The main employer here is our growing Port. The Port of Prince Rupert is active loading grains, coal, logs, pellets, sea food and we are working on developing Ridely Island. Also a proposed PNG shipping terminal by 2020. More and more products are coming and going through the container port each year.
