I went there on a Wednesday for dinner. Not to busy but decent amount of people inside. All were sitting in the interior room. They decided to sit us on the exterior room. I saw 2 tables by the windows in the interior and asked if we could sit by the window. The waitress/ hostess advised me that both tables were reserved. I thought it was strange because nothing was on the table. I thought nothing of it. 5 minutes later a couple walked in the door. No reservations. They dat them at the window
This is rated top notch. I don't know why. The service was terrible and the food mediocre. The service staff had lots of "attitude"! Oakville is a bedroom community of folks with money to spend and this restaurant is THE sushi place to go to. Perhaps our service was bad because we are not "regulars"? New tables were being served before us. Departing tables were being re-set before us. It was a hot night and the AC was inadequate to say the least. Overall we would not return.
Mye is excellent in every respect. Love servers KImmie and Nina and owner/head chef Mo. Fresh fish always. They'll bring in special exotic items if you are a regular. (ie., razor clam). I've eaten there approximately 25 times and have never had a bad meal.
Best sushi place in Oakville hands down. The quality and taste of the fish here is superior to the other places in town for pretty much the same price. Its also nice to see an actual trained Sushi chef preparing the food as is sadly not the case with most Sushi places these days. The service is exceptional and I do mean exceptional as the wait staff are very attentive and friendly. The way dining out should be. Highly recommended.
Best Sukiyaki - I've had it at 3 different restaurants, and Mye does it best. Service and atmosphere are very nice! High quality sushi and rolls.
My wife and I have been to Mye twice. The first time we had their "Mye Special Dinner" which was simply excellent. Tonight, our anniversary, we asked in advance for their Omakase Menu (chef's menu I believe it would be called). They treated us to an unbelievable multi-course meal, with some of the best and most interesting sushi and seafood we've had in ages. The creativity was great, and the quality and variety of the fish was perfect. Absolutely stand out meal. I give them 5 stars for the food, as it was the best meal I've had in a restaurant in years.
Wife and I have been here a few times and always have a great experience. Authentic feel right down to the decor.
My husband and I love Mye. Sushi they have are always fresh and very consistent. I am from Japan and my husband spend more than 5 years in Japan so we know good sushi. And I am telling you Mye's sushi's very good. We feel lucky to have Mye so close to where we live. When we want to eat something good we always settle on going to Mye. Try their Unagi Nigiri. It's the best! The way the grill the Unagi is just soooooo good.
My Favorite Japanese Restaurant!! My Husband and I are regulars at Mye. The food is always fresh and delicious and very consistent. Excellant sushi rolls, and main dishes as well, the plum wine has become a favorite of ours.
Had (once again) a marvellous experience at this lovely restaurant. It's quaint, unassuming yet elegant and cosy. The food is wonderful, well presented and the service is polite, quiet and attentive. It's a great place for that special day - an anniversary, birthday, family reunion or any time at all. I will definitely visit again!
I quite enjoyed my experience at this restuarant. It has a warm and inviting atmoshpere, with a wall covered in various Japanese cups. The food was very tasty. Not the largest of portions, but good value for a higher-class restaurant. The only thing I might comment on is the service by the older staff of the restuarant. They do not greet you and are very stark when they talk to you. However, the younger waiters and waitresses are great. I would definately go back if I were in the mood for sushi in the downtown area.
My husband, son and I went under the reccommendation of close friends who are regulars at Mye - they said it was the best Japanese restaurant they'd ever been to. We couldn't agree more!
Stopped in without a reservation. No wait, but I would recommend making one next time.
Good food, prompt service. Not as good as many Japanese restaurants I have eaten at, however.
I brought two clients to this restaurant, and was very disappointed. When the bill for 3 people tops $200 (with no alcohol) at a sushi place, I expect much more than what I got. Food was nothing special, service was pretty poor, with lots of reminders needed and several order errors. Again, for this price, I expect a lot more. With lots of alternatives I wouldn't go back.
Wonderful atmosphere! We were kindly greeted at the door by 3 servers and offered warm towels upon sitting down. Our meals were just fabulous and the toro was extremely tasty. Everything that my husband and I expected, and more, for a Friday evening dinner.
Overall, the dishes were by far the greatest Japanese food I have tasted in Oakville and surrounding area. I would have appreciated a greater wine list, but the freshness and presentation was incomparable. The sushi chefs were friendly and the service was friendly too. I highly recommend taking a client or simply a few close friends.
Toronto Life Magazine rates Mye as a 4 star restaurant and we couldn't agree more! We are regular customers because the food is consistently outstanding. The service is attentive - whether you're a regular customer or not. Mye sauces(salad dressing, stir fry, miso) are sold in grocery stores...another testament to the high quality Mye offers. P.S. The "old guy" mentioned in an earlier review, left Mye to open his own restaurant in Bronte - not one we would recommend.
My family (parents, sisters, daughter) and I went to Mye for our special dinner out during the holidays. We were very impressed! The service was great and the food was delicious. I recommend the Shokado Dinner - it contains a little of everything on the menu in a beautiful lacquered box.
Very good Japanese food. The service the last time we were there was slow. The restaurant is authentic when compared to some other 'Japanese' restaurants in Oakville.
