The restaurant had this male server, whom had been getting into my nerve, from the time I inquire about the menu and the time we ordered. He doesn't seem to understand what we are saying, no smile just a face of confusion. The store closes at 9PM, and at 8:45PM, I was handled my bill without me asking for it. Then he standed just a few steps away and just stared at us (I presume he was waiting for the payment) for the next 5 minutes or so. We were the only customer at that time. Me and my wife felt very annoyed. Then one by one the other staffs, including the kitchen staffs, started to converge in the payment counter a few steps away from us and started staring at us, no smile just blank faces. I ask my wife what is going on? I just lost my appetite, hurriedly paid my bill in they counter where they all are, and left. Rude, inconsiderate and unprofessional staff. I live in the same Pickering community but I will never go back. Beware, you're warned.
I would never go back to this place. First of all, I understand that a Vietnamese restaurants can probably charge a premium just because there aren't as many competitions around but $7.95 for a medium bowl of Pho is ridiculous.
I visited this restaurant last weekend with my husband as we've been craving Pho since we recently moved into West Rouge area. When we googled for pho near our place, this was the closest restaurant serving pho, so we headed over to check it out. To my dismay, they did not have a size small and their sizes started at medium. So I ordered a medium and my husband ordered a large as the server kept saying, "it's only one dollar more for large."
When we received our food, my rare beef and tripe Pho had all the sliced beef already submerged in the soup thus over-cooking the meat. I think I found exactly 8 pieces of shriveled up tripe. So much for "rare beef" pho. My husband's large pho came in almost same size bowl as my medium so we even put them side by side to see if there was a difference. If the large bowl was indeed larger, it might have been by 1mm in diameter. Needless to say, they had filled my husband's large with similar amount of noodle as what I had in my medium and the rest with broth.
$20 for two very disappointing bowls of Pho later, Even if it means driving an extra 10 minutes to other Vietnamese restaurants in Scarborough, I will never go back to Pho Saigon. Over-priced food with fake smiles....not a very good combination and definitely left a bad taste in my mouth.

I eat out quite ofter and have been going to this restaurant at lease once a week for a while now. I eat a wide variety of ethnic foods and the food here is always very good or excellent and the prices are very reasonable. However, the service is awful. We have to ask the server to bring my food and my guests food at the same time or it will come 10 minutes after, and I'm not exaggerating! Returning to the table after we've received our food is non-existant and getting there attention politely is rare. And on our last visit my guest received the wrong item and when it was brought to there attention the server was not apologetic.
Now, you're probably asking why we go back. The pho soup is fantastic. I do recommend this place if you can tolerate poor service. If I knew of a better bowl of pho closer to home, I would go.
Note: There is one waiter there that is very good but we have only had him twice, which is unfortunate. There is one waitress there that I think if she smiled once in a while she might be a happier server.
Always great food...at fabulous prices.
New menu makes it easier to find what you like-
by ingredients (chicken etc) rather than by type of food.
The staff is helpful with suggestions if you want to try something different... your tea pot will always be full with the most wonderful jasmine tea.
Very calm atmosphere~always very clean.
