Excellent fish and chips dinner! I had halibut and chips with tartar sauce, creamy coleslaw and pasta salad on the side. The servings were very generous. My piece of fish was huge and I had lots of tartar sauce to go with it. I didn't run out. I love the fries. They are just like the ones that my mom used to make. Both the coleslaw and the pasta salad are delicious. Also ... the delivery person was very friendly and polite! I would recommend Annie's to everyone! ?❤
Waitress was sister in law on owner. Very personable,outgoing. She had them make me some shrimp they didn’t, even have on the menu. We had allergies in the group which they accomated easily. Food was delicious- I had salmon w/ dill sauce & Shrimp. Excellent service! Highly Recommend!
Horrible meal -I ordered Halibut tonight - 2 pieces only. I live around the corner so ordered for take-out. I was told it would be 18.96 but when I went to pay; I was told it would be 23-something...also was charged for the tartar sauce. Now I know when you dine in, you are not charged for tartar sauce but you cant have Annie's with out the tartar sauce so forked it over.
Got it home and was so NOT IMPRESSED. It was dry and chewy. The owner who cashed me out didn't smile once and was the one to charge me for the tartar. WONT be back that's 2 times out of the last 3 times that Ive not been impressed with service or product...
I have been getting takeout at Annie's every week for
several years now.
My favorite is poached Atlantic Salmon with sauteed
mushrooms and steamed vegetables.
The mixed grill (salmon, halibut and shrimp) is good
too.
This place was recommended, and the person who recommened it is going to get a piece of mind. The cup and cutlery were dirty. There was hair in the food. The shrimp was so undercooked it was translucent, sent it back and it still came back undercooked. Nothing is seasoned - bland, bland, bland! Batter on the fish and chips was very tough. The pie crust tastes terrible. Very disappointing! Totally tasteless, awful meal - could have done much better myself and I don't cook that much. For the money they charged, we could have had a much better meal somewhere else. Will never go back and would not recommend eating here!
Went to Annie"s today Oct 6th 2011 with my son, ordered Thurs special Salmon with mashed potatoes coleslaw, my son ordered hamburger with bacon and ketchup only, waited 20-25 minutes standard most places. Get our meal can't eat mashed potatoes they were so hard, my son is lactose gets burger with cheese. Tell the owner Annie about potatoes being hard she tells me she knows that they been having problems with them, I asked why she didn't tell me that before I ordered them, I also told her they were not real potatoes, she insisted they were, I guess thinking I never ate real potatoes before, then my son tells her he has the burger he had already sent back, she say no it was another burger so my son picks up the burger and shows her some of the cheese still on the burger, all they did was take it back and remove the cheese. she insisted on arguing with us. I have eaten at this place before and found the food good so I'm not a person there to cause trouble, but I have to say the food on this day and our experience with the owner will cause me never to go there again.
Visited Annies while on our honeymoon. Dinner was fine but was expecting more as it was voted "best" seafood in Stratford. The meal was just adequite , have had worse but have has MUCH better often. Batter on fish left alot to be desired and shrimps were slightly overcooked. The fries were delicious thou.
What a great fish and chips place, the food was well cooked and our waitress was very helpful and prompt.
I had the 2pc Pollock with the Seafood Chowder, they say the chowder is made in house and it shows, its very tasty and made with halibut, there weas lots of the fish in my chowder and it was tender and flakey, lots of potatoes too and over all a great flavor and consistency.
The fish itself was fried well but I would have perfered it taken out maybe 30 seconds sooner, the batter was just the right thickness and tasted quite good, Ive been to some fish and chips places where you get more batter then fish but luckily that was not the case here.
My wife had the 2pc fish with fries and the fries were very good, fresh cut and not cooked in the same oil as the fish, they were cooked perfectly and were very good, I dare say they might rival some chip wagons.
We also got the calamari which can as a generous portion and with two slices of garlic toast, the calamari itself was good, it wasnt chewy at all like some places.
Lastly their tartar sauce, because whats a fish and chips places without tartar sauce? You can tell they make it in house, its quite mild and doesnt overpower the fish at all which some tartar sauces tend to do.
Overall it was a great meal and all that came in at just under $30 for the two of us so you wont find a much better deal, youll definitely walk away full.
If you enjoy fish and chips, and other seafood treats, then this is a great place to go in Stratford, we will certainly be back the next time we have a craving.
P.S. I suppose I ought to mention that this isnt just a fish n chips place, they also serve pasta, burgers and other dishes, and I gotta say the burgers sounded really good from their descriptions.
My favourite restaurant in Stratford! Always order the rice pudding. The fries were fresh-cut and dessert was to die for. Food and service was excellent!
