my favorite Mexican restaurant in the city - you must be patient for your food, but it's well worth it. Their salsa is delicious!
Great food, takes a little while to be made, but I highly recommend this restaurant.
My daughter chose this restaurant for her birthday meal as we had been before and she liked it. The service is usually very slow, but the food makes up for it. On this occasion it was unacceptable. We were the only party in the place, there were 9 of us. We waited 45 minutes for someone to take our order. The food took ages to arrive, although it was pretty good. After we had finished eating, they cleared our plates and then ignored us again for 30 minutes. At this point, there were people queueing for a table who were also being ignored. Some decided to leave and go somewhere else. We eventually went to find someone to get the bill, and there were mistakes. The mistakes were corrected to our satisfaction, but nobody apologised. We will not be going back. After sitting there for 3 hours, my daughter was too tired to enjoy the rest of her birthday evening and everyone in our party was extremely disappointed.
Food took a while to cook, however service was friendly and food was great! we ordered the combo platter, a bit on the greasy side, but thats beef/pork for you. Great atmosphere, music was decent, but my date and I had a great time. definitely would go back!
Unbelievably slow service for mediocre food. We lived in California for a decade and you could get superior Mexican food for 1/4 the price. Stay away from this place unless you have about 4 hours to wait for your food. Never again.
This is by far the best mexican food I've ever had, superbly authentic and made to order. The only complaint I have is that the service, while friendly, is very, very slow. If you're going for dinner, plan for 2+ hours so try not to go on a night you're trying to make a movie or show!
Possibly the best Mexican restaurant in Toronto (haven't tried them all) but the food is amazing (and you get a lot for your money) the service is awesome, I'm definitely going again soon.
Awesome food. Plenty of menu choices. We ordered the platter so we could taste a variety of items. They were all equally delicious. I would definately go back.
We were very excited about finally getting what we though was going to be great mexican food at El Sol — even making reservations so as not to miss out. Unfortunately — that wasn't the case. It wasn't particularly busy, yet we waited nearly 20 minutes before our first drink order was taken, and then every time anyone needed a refill, it was much the same. The food, when our order was finally arrived ( more than two hours after we arrived!) was decent, albeit a little bland. Be warned - if you're going with more than two people - they will not separate bills nor is it itemized. I don't think anyone in my party will likely visit again, which is very disappointing , as we were really craving some authentic mexican cuisine.

Mexican cuisine is one of the most diverse and delicious types in the world. Run by a brother and sister team who focus on food from the north of the country, El Sol reminds you of how many interesting Mexican recipes there are. They offer a tasty choice of soups which are pre-Spanish for an interesting twist and vegetarians can choose from a range of dedicated dishes. Décor is vibrant with Mexican folk art decorating the walls.
