Showed up here for a friends 30th birthday and they sent us away saying it was closed.... we had confirmed reservations for 10 people. Beyond ridiculous.

New Favorite Restaurant

This was a sigularly phenomenal experience. All of our food was lick-your-plate excellent. I love their investment in local food producers. Their housemade breads, butters, pastas totally show it. We also were treated to a random complimentary amuse-bouche of a pork terrine with caramelized onions on crostini. Vanilla creme brulee was the single best creme brulee I've ever had--PERFECTLY burnt sugar. Truly amazing prices for food this good. ONLY down thought? Cocktails are expensive and taste like actual booze. Given that I'm normally a fruity liqour drinker, they were hard drinks to swallow! A connaisseur might feel differently. [Had Autumn sidecar/dark & stormy]

My new favourite restaurant

Sidecar has just became one of my favorite restaurants! My friends and I ordered lightly seared Ahi tuna and Shrimp tempura to start. We all ordered cocktails as Sidecar is known for their interesting/funking drink menu. I ordered the Tangerine Sidecar, which it was very good. One of my friends ordered the Badass Mojito and that was simply awesome. My other friend ordered the lemon grass ginger lemonade.. i thought it was good but not fantastic... maybe because i'm not used to herbs in my drinks. For mains, they ordered salmon and steak (i didn't get to try them so i can't comment). I ordered the lamb ribeye with mushroom risotto. I thought that it was very good. the risotto was very flavorful and creamy, the lamb ribeye was cooked just right, tender and juicy. Later, we ordered a bottle of red wine (only 24$!) and I ordered the vanilla margarita.. it was ok.. tasted like cream soda with tequila to me. Their drinks are some what small but very strong which i didn't mind. Just one thing that I found disappointing was that on their website, they advertised that they have live jazz on friday and saturday.. but no jazz the night we went. The wait staff was friendly and approachable. We stayed from 7:30-12 and none of them rushed us out. The ambiance was nice but not pretentious. The food portion was surprisingly generous. Definitely great value.

Keep warm in Toronto with these eggnog cocktails

Keep warm in Toronto with these eggnog cocktails

This popular restaurant offers Italian-American classics, serving up spaghetti and meatballs, short ribs and house-cured salmon. They don't joke around with their cocktails, either, with each option containing 2 to 3 ounces of alcohol. Once the cooler days are officially here to stay, they offer an Apple Cider Eggnog. Made with apple cider, bourbon, a whole egg, sugar, ice and cinnamon, this cocktail offers just the right amount of sweet and spicy, and is sure to warm you up inside.
