“It’s every cook’s dream to have his own spot,” says John, co-owner of Baldwin Street Burger in Brooklin. “Both Ashley (co-owner) and I are professional chefs and we’d both been in the business for about 10 years. We decided that since we were already working crazy hours in restaurants, we might as well do it for ourselves.” So, in 2011, they did. And they’re still going strong.
Building and maintaining a restaurant is hard work, particularly when you’ve chosen a highly competitive niche market like hamburgers. But John and Ashley make a darn good burger.
About a year ago this was a 5 star local burger joint, now a different story. Service has gone down hill. Waited almost an hour for pickup that they forgot to announce was ready.. They then accused me of not paying..which I did aprox 60 minutes prior. I asked if the food was warm they nodded. Complete utter LIE. Cold food.. Poor service what has happened???? AVOID on a Friday /Saturday night. Clearly they do not have staff to deal with large number of orders.

I went to this place not too long ago, i absolutely loved my poutine. But my burger was not what i was expecting. One of the staff saw i wasn't too happy with my order as i was leaving. This gentleman actually ran down the street in mid winter in a t-shirt to catch up with me , so he could refund me for my burger. I thought this was spectacular. You just never see that anywhere else. I will for sure be back just because of that. Keep up the good work guys !
This is the best burger place I have ever eaten at (numeruos times now), the burgers are insanely good, homemade and made of organic beef! The onion rings are unreal (and i dont even like onion rings), the gravy is awesome even for dipping your burger in and the deep fried pickles are perfect!
