This is a portuguese restaurant in the middle of a poor working class area that dishes out some very good food.
I had the grilled seabass (fantastic) and my wife had a steak also good.
The wine selection is honest and earthy with emphasis on portuguese and well priced.
I would definitely come back for more experiments.

My experience at Banaboia Restaurant has been a good one over all. The place is clean. The food is fresh and portions are a good size, prices are also reasonable. The service is great. They have a waiter there by the name of Sergio who made my experience a wonderful one inturn I will continue to go back. I have been going there throughout the years and waiters have come and gone, no one has been as personable, professional and as friendly as Sergio, not even the owners come to think of it. Hopefully the owners realize what a great employee they have and treat him well. It is very difficult to find good employees these days. So people go in have a good meal and meet Sergio the exceptional waiter.....
I've been coming to this restuarant for over 15 years! It was first located on College/Grace St. People their are friendly and very very genuine! The food is HEAVEN!!! True Portuguese Cuisine in it's finest! Seeing is believeing an eating is the true test! You won't be sorry!!
We have been impressed with the food and the service every time we've been here. We've eaten fresh fish, shellfish and meat dishes and they have all been delicious.
Their shishkebabs are worth ordering even just for the presentation on sword-length skewers.
The wine list has some excellent Portuguese wines and all at a reasonable price.
The prices are around $20 per entree and they are very large portions. Unless you are a big eater, you can easily share a meal and a appetizer.
WOW!! What a great steak. I would recommend anyone craving an authentic Portuguese style steak to try this restaurant because it is the best. The steak is soo tender and the sauce is to die for. Everything is home made and amazing service. The dessert is great, the best of two world - chocolate and whip cream with a hint of coffee. The best dessert I ever had.

A fantastic restaurant to visit again and again, great service, extremely friendly and helpful waiter, very friendly owner, overall a great experience. Ofcourse there is no doubt the food is one of the best portuguese meals I have ever had. Very clean restaurant, lots of open space, one doesnt feel crowded. A definite restaurant to go to when you crave portuguese food.

It has to be visited to be enjoyed. Great place to take your boyfriend/girlfriend/husband/wife. Great for family outings as well. The portions are more than generous and the establishement make it a priority to be extremely clean. I've been there several times (although my first review) and will continue to do so.
This restaurant is a true gem of traditional Azores cuisine. It is has modest decor, it is roomy, tables are well spaced out and has good lighting. The staff is fantastic and includes the owner and his son at the bar, along with a very polite and courteous waiter.
The service is superb and never rushed. They are attentive, but not overpowering and this restaurant is a real tribute to an old fashioned, unpretentious dining out experience.
I give it 5 Stars!

Great restaurant!! The owner "Jose" provides great customer service. He remembered us when we used to go to Banaboia on College. That was great!! The food is amazing like always and we were impressed with the seafood rice, no one does like these guys.
Keep up the great work!!! WE WILL DEFINITELY RETURN AGAIN!!
