Boutique Jacques

Boutique Jacques opened its doors in Montreal in 1958, but the history of this menswear boutique dates back even further to some 23 years prior. The founder, Jacques, learned the trade of tailoring at just 13 years of age in his home country of Czechoslovakia. His skills as a tailor would serve him well as he moved to Holland where he opened his first haute couture shop with his wife Rose, and eventually to Canada where he settled in Montreal.

Jacques’s sons Leo and Harry now run the business in Montreal’s Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood and dress men for casual, business and formal events.

Despite Leo’s fond memories of working at Boutique Jacques as a teen, he went on to become a Chartered Professional Accountant and opened his own office across the hall from the boutique. His father would often call on him for help and eventually in the early 1980’s, Leo officially joined the business.
