Pour le brownie
J'adore le brownie aux piments de Cocoa Local...mmmmm. Vraiment bon.
Walking into Cocoa Locale is like entering Reema Singh's house — you just might fall under the spell of her vintage kitchen.
A native of Hamilton, Ontario, Reema came to McGill in 1998 to become a professor. "I had a student job in a cafe and my job was to make the desserts," she recalls. This experience was a turning point in her life; it was where she learned to work with clients and become independent in the kitchen. "My boss gave me the freedom to be creative," says Reema, who even back then was able to see herself happily baking for the rest of her life.
Reema then started making pastries to deliver to different establishments. One day, when she found the sewing workshop in her neighbourhood was for sale, she jumped at the chance. Cocoa Locale came to life in September, 2005.
