Lauded as the standard for refined Greek cuisine in Montreal, Ouzeri is a Montreal landmark with a fascinating story.

George Kalivas arrived in Montreal from Greece in 1991 with barely a penny in his pocket. While he worked to establish himself and began to get to know the city, one thing struck him about its restaurant scene: a traditional Greek restaurant the way he envisioned it was nowhere to be found. This lead George to the idea that if there wasn't a spot where Montrealers could enjoy Greek cuisine at its best, he'd have to open one.

A few years later he married and soon he and his wife had pooled together enough money to turn his idea into reality. They opened Ouzeri's doors in 1994. Over two decades later, this upscale dining room is a lively spot and hailed as the place in Montreal to experience traditional Greek fare at its best.
