Meet the owner

Blanche Neige Restaurant has been serving its steady clientele since 1959. Surrounded by hospitals and situated on the perimeter of the University of Montreal campus, this community fixture has been a second home to immigrants, students, professors, nurses and other locals in one of Montreal’s most dense and multicultural neighbourhoods. Blanche Neige is a discreet Montreal landmark, appreciated by longtime customers, and fondly remembered by people in faraway places like Morocco.

Owner Nick Triandos bought the restaurant from his uncle in 1978, having previously worked in its kitchen during his youth. Nick has known this place day in and day out, and loyal customers have come for four decades. What brings people back? Blanche Neige is as pure as its name, Snow White, in its intentions to serve well-made meals at a reasonable price.

“The value here is that we provide good food at a good price,” said the owner. His commitment is rooted in providing affordable dining without cutting on quality.

“To give a good price, I don’t sacrifice quality,” he said.

Can’t miss late-night eats in Montreal

Here, night owls are served until 3am, and all night long on Fridays and Saturdays. Slide into a seat here and enjoy their poutine (there are more than 20), their Greek, Chinese and seafood dishes while everyone else is asleep. In the morning, you’ll struggle to find a cheaper lunch in town – their $1.99 breakfast comes with two eggs, potatoes, toast and coffee.
