Meet the owner

The minute you walk through the door at Bar Palco, you're immediately immersed in a festive atmosphere with street lamps and lights reminiscent of a fair. The mezzanine, accessible by a spiral staircase, is a true games room for adults, with its foosball table and board games, where new exhibitions are hosted every season. In the back, an inviting terrace with a mural and swing complete the décor.

Isabelle Corriveau and Marc-Antoine Coulombe, the owners of Bar Palco, were initially roommates. As they looked for a location for their business project in various lively neighbourhoods in Montreal, the borough of Verdun, after "139 years of being a dry town," finally lifted its ban on bars. It was an "historic" moment, according to borough mayor Jean-François Parenteau. Shortly after, the two friends found a space on Wellington Street, located in the heart of downtown Verdun and close to the de l'Église metro station. "Everything was perfect!" Isabelle says enthusiastically. And the icing on the cake? A huge mural painted by artists Ella and Pitron on the roof of the Ethel Street parking garage behind Bar Palco.

The Palco is much more than a neighbourhood bar. This is a place that pushes the cultural talent in the region to the fore, thanks to a program of socio-cultural events. It’s also a place to go for a drink with friends, over barbecue chicken nachos and whiskey, shepherd’s pie with braised beef, a mini burger trio, beet carpaccio, or even a sweet potato poutine with roasted parsnips. A+ for the atmosphere... and the terrace in the summer!

Enjoy Montreal’s Cabane Panache et bois rond 2016

This neighbourhood bar honours "chansonniers" (Quebec folk singers/song writers) and artists from all walks of life and offers its customers a wonderful choice of cultural activities within its walls. For the Cabane Panache event, enjoy a Whiskey Collins – or John Collins – made with carbonated water, whiskey, maple sugar syrup, and lemon. And we remind you that they have Guinness on tap, St. Patrick's Day requires it!
