Marvellous Mercatto

As we walked down bay street...we were hungry and in desperate search of a restaurant. We were hit with a wonderful aroma as we passed this restaurant...we quickly ran inside and sat down! The atmosphere was that of a classy market - our server was down to earth and un pretensious....and the atmosphere was all class. The food was so delicious and the pizza tasted just like a funghi pizza I ate in Italy once!

When you walk in the door there is great energy from the guests enjoying fresh, quality food and the service staff. I have yet to order anything that wasn't awesome. Many people I know agree that this one of thier favourite spots for lunch or dinner.

Reel Business Lunch: Where Suits films in Toronto

Reel Business Lunch: Where Suits films in Toronto

Harvey meets Louis Litt at this fine café (in Season 4, Episode 10) to help him secure a job since he committed a felony and was forced to resign from Pearson Specter. Louis must have been feeling the ambiance when he said, “This is Rome, you’re a gladiator and so am I,” because while this bellissimo spot is not quite Rome, it is Mercatto at Bay and Adelaide, a classic Italian restaurant serving delicious homemade dishes (chitarra alla carbonara anyone?). Reserve your seat and opt for the patio if you’re lunching for business (psst: it’s quieter there).

Pizza you can bank on in Toronto's Financial District

There are multiple Mercatto locations in Toronto, but the one at Bay and Adelaide is the most hoppin’. You'll find a full lineup of authentic Italian food with options like misticanza, polpette or grilled calamari to whet your appetite for the main course – piping hot pizza. One of the best experiences you can have is with the Agnello which features ingredients that’ll make you feel like you’re dining on the Mediterranean coast.

With locations across the city, Mercatto is an uber-charming, oh-so-chic string of trattorias that offer fine Italian cuisine in upscale-meets-casual spaces. You’ll find yourself tempted by effectively everything on the menu, from stacked charcuterie boards to mouthwatering pasta dishes. Popping in for a business lunch or a date night dinner? Don’t hesitate to split a pie of the thin-crust variety. Our pizza pick? The Agnello, which combines lamb sausage, olives, fior di latte, and San Marzano tomatoes.
