Il n'y a pas de meilleur restaurant pour les poissons et les fruits de mer au centre-ville de Montréal. Très belle carte des vins. Un magnifique endroit.

Montreal's First TASTE MTL

For Montreal's first ever restaurant week, we wanted to go to a familiar place that's usually unaffordable. The choice of Ferreira Café was easy: when else can you sample a full dinner for $39 before 10PM at this bastion of Portuguese gastronomy? Ferreira boasts an intimate and upscale interior with its long bar, signature wall of broken, colorful dishes and open-concept kitchen on the mezzanine level. The place is perfectly suited for a special occasion or for plain people-watching. The menu revolves around Portuguese seafood dishes; some are classics while others are updated versions. It also includes some meat dishes and surf & turf combos. For TASTE MTL, we had a choice of two starters, two mains and one dessert, all of which we sampled. The beautiful hostess warmly greeted us and showed us to our table, and our attractive waitress was very friendly and attentive. The food came in a timely manner and was at the right temperature. Really can't say much here, we wish all restaurants have service like this. We love Ferreira for everything it offers: the consistently good food, the ambiance, the great service… Whether it's for a special occasion, to show off to out-of-towners, or a pricey lunch, you won't be disappointed here. At $39, the TASTE MTL menu did a good job of showcasing this seafood haven's capabilities at a budget-friendly price.

Fantastic evening

Went with my lover for a late supper prior to dancing. The service from the front door onwards was stellar. Wonderful assistance from the Maitre d' in selecting a most delicious wine - Douro 1999 Barca-Velha. The presentation, decanting, glasses and facilitation of space by incorporating another table was very service focused. The portuguese amouse bouche tasting platter was delicious (sardines, grilled calimari, choricos) Mains: Mediterranean Sea Bass, Black Cod - both delicious, accompanied with asparagus & rapini, mushrooms, etc. Dessert: a shared chocolate lava cake accompanied by a very aged and delicious port. Apart from the food tasting delicious and extremely well presented (well done Chef) the service throughout was exceptional. Excepcionalmente bem feito! We will be back.

The atmosphere of this busy restaurant is...

The atmosphere of this busy restaurant is wonderful. We were a party of 13 and found the service extremely quick & professional. I don't know what everyone ate but the lamb chops were a hit at our table. Myself, I ordered the cod and that was a mistake. 3 ppl ordered the dish, one send hers back as it was raw, 1 did not like the texture and I had so many bones in mine, it was practically inedible. Would not order this dish again but overall it was a great evening
