Feast on Montreal’s best foodie hot dogs

Do you have a barbecue? Neither do I. That's why I'm suggesting some spots that make hot dogs better than us, so you'll know where to head for your junk food fix. A well done hot dog is a beautiful thing and these places are where you’ll find them. Enjoy! [Image credit: iStock.com/ bhofack2]

Le Majestique

4105, boul Saint-Laurent, Montréal, QC H2W 1Y7

The Majestique is located in an old deli, and their menu tells it all: the giant hot dog, a homemade piglet sausage on bread from the Hof Kelsten bakery, comes with green apples, mustard and lemon mayo and is a monster, but a delicious monster. Definitely to be shared!

Boucherie Ça Va Barder

55, rue Fleury O, Montréal, QC H3L 1T1

This creative butcher on wheels serves up giant Wag Dogs, made with 100% wagyu beef nestled in Quebec brioche. Add house mayo, barbecue sauce and plenty of sauerkraut because hey, why not!

Benelux

245, Rue Sherbrooke O, Montréal, QC H2X 1X7

Benelux offers EuroDogs: hot dogs and sauerkraut on a baguette with mustard, all with chips and olives on the side. The choice of European sausage is quite simple, but efficient: spicy pork or wiener. And it’s cheaper before 8pm!

Chez Tousignant

6956, rue Drolet, Montréal, QC H2S 2T3

Chez Tousignant is a somewhat fancy snackbar in Little Italy. Everything here is homemade, even the bread and sausages for hot dogs! We recommend a hot dog with secret sauce, pickles, cheese and bacon, all at a friendly price.

Chez Jerry

1083 Côte du Beaver Hall, Montréal, QC H2Z 1S5

Jerry is now a franchise all across Quebec. The menu, set by Jerome Ferrer, offers a giant hot dog (foot long!) with smoked beef sausage, house sauerkraut, Dijon sauce, fries and pickles. Yum! Hey, foodies: Chez Jerry even has a food truck.

A A

1562 Av Laurier E, Montréal, QC H2J 1H9

At Frites Alors! they make Euro-style hot dogs: baguette, Viennese sausage, sauerkraut in white wine and Dijon mustard... yum. A true Quebecer at heart? Go for the Chien Chaud d'Icitte, a hot dog on a bun with Viennese sausage and relish-mustard.

As Xavier Dolan said in Heartbeats, it's not because it's vintage that it's beautiful. So we have uncovered some shops you can visit to find a proper vintage look!
In Montreal, streetwear is in style, perhaps due to the omnipresence of hip-hop culture and the popularity of skateboarding. Regardless of the source, one thing is certain: the trend is here to stay.
