It’s a Pho’sure thing: Edmonton's best pho

Pho is such a simple culinary creation but it’s certainly true that some places take it to a higher level of deliciousness than others. These Edmonton spots do pho right, pho’sure. And, once you try it, you’ll never be able to go out on a cold night without craving the warmth and comfort of this savoury broth.

Pho Hoan Pasteur Ltd

11443 Kingsway NW, Edmonton, AB T5G 3E8

This is the ultimate pho experience – it’s where pho connoisseurs come to dine on giant bowls of savoury broth and soft rice noodles. It’s often referred to as “the place by Kingsway Mall,” known more for its reputation and location than its actual name. But, the pho keeps the peeps coming back, time and time again. And, rumour has it, once you try it, you can never truly enjoy pho from other spots again.

Oriental Noodle House

It’s a Vietnamese restaurant but the service is so fast you might mistake it for a fast food or take out spot. It’s great for groups, with a huge menu of interesting phos broken down by region of Vietnam. The quality of the meat and the tanginess of the broth make it a true treat, tough to forget long after lunch is over.

Lemongrass Cafe

10417 51 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T6H 0K4

This lovely Vietnamese restaurant on the south side of Edmonton is proof you can find good pho outside of Chinatown. While the menu offers many tempting items besides pho, it’s hard to resist a big bucket-sized bowl of savoury liquid, filled to the brim with slippery rice noodles and thinly sliced beef.

Delicious Pho

10418 124 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5N 1R5

This is a minimalist pho restaurant dedicated to the art of creating soothing bowls of delicious broth and vermicelli noodles, topped with a handful of green onion tops. The traditional beef pho is excellent, and doesn’t need much embellishment. Still, it’s always better with a squirt of lemon and a palmful of bean sprouts, isn’t it?

King Noodle House Pho Hoang Ltd

10613 97 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5H 2L5

When it comes to pho, this spot is known for setting the bar high for broth. Theirs is savoury and light-coloured, without too much soy or salt. It goes beautifully with the perfectly cooked noodles, creating a meal that is hearty and soothing without being too heavy. They only take cash, so come with a full wallet and an empty stomach.

Pho King

9103 118 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T5B 0T9

Known for its beef brisket pho, Pho King serves up a pho that isn’t too salty, but still has plenty of flavour, thanks to the scallions and hunks of raw white onion. It comes out steaming hot and in a hurry, making this a good stop for lunch when you don’t have a lot of time. The portions of meat are generous, as are the heaping sides of basil and sprouts.
