Leva

11053 86th Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB T6G 0X1

It makes sense that this café, located near the University of Alberta, serves pizza. After all, isn’t pizza a food group for university students? But, it’s not just students that flock to Leva Café for their gourmet pizzas. The pizza menu is simple but to the point, and as with the rest of the café’s menu, it may change seasonally. That’s because many of the ingredients, like the fresh basil, are sourced locally. It all adds up to a decadent pie that pizza lovers of all ages can agree on.

Despite the fact that Beer Revolution is a pub, they actually have really great gourmet pizza. Each thin crust pizza comes with tons of toppings. One of the most popular pies is the Blazing Saddle, which combines blackened steak and bacon with arugula, mozzarella, white cheddar, crispy onions, banana peppers, Cajun remoulade and horseradish aioli. There’s also the Wilbur, which is a meat lover’s dream with bacon, salami, Italian sausage and pancetta, plus fior di latte mozzarella and marinara sauce.

Located in Riverbend, this friendly neighbourhood bar is a great place to watch a game and chow down on some pizza. They serve three variations of this Italian classic dish: Hawaiian, BBQ Chicken and the Bend Deluxe. Their namesake, the Bend Deluxe, is piled high with marinara sauce, mozzarella, ground beef, pepperoni, capicola, mushrooms, onions, green onions and amorosa tomatoes. At $15 a pie, the prices are pretty reasonable, making up for the limited choices in toppings.

Steel Wheels

10307 85 Ave Nw, Edmonton, AB T6E 6N7

A Whyte Avenue staple, especially for the late night crowd, this graffiti-covered spot is known for its eclectic mix of pizza and Korean food. The two cuisines collide in one dish: The Bulgogi Pizza. It’s their most popular pie and, like all the other pizzas, it’s only $3 for two slices. Steel Wheels is a licensed establishment, so you can wash down your pizza with cheap beer. It becomes packed here after last call at the bars, since it’s open till 3 a.m. Monday through Sunday.
