Open year-round, this is the perfect place to get your dim sum fix. The dim sum is made fresh to order (as is the rest of the menu), so prepare to spend a bit of time here. There are mostly steamed items on the menu, and only a few fried dishes, so it’s a little healthier for those who are worried about calories. Their mini sticky rice is definitely tops, as is the mango pudding. Some of their steamed dim sum options include barbecue pork buns, beef dumplings with ginger and green onions, curry squid and spareribs with black bean sauce. Yum!
Past winner of a Golden Fork award from Vue Weekly for best dim sum, you know you can’t go wrong at the Golden Rice Bowl. Their pork dumplings are terrific, the deep fried squid is crispy and delicious and, of course, the mu shu pork is the perfect amount of pancakes and dip. Located on the south side of the city, Golden Rice Bowl has been a part of Edmonton's dining scene since the 1970s.
The green onion cakes, chicken wings and fried wontons should be your go-tos when you visit Dim Sum Delight. The dry garlic ribs are delightful and the cold barbecue pork is quite unique. This restaurant doesn't use the traditional push carts for its dim sum, and is known for its great service and laid-back atmosphere.
The hand-made dumplings and buns are definitely worth trying. Sample the steamed pork and peanut dumplings, bean curd meat rolls in oyster sauce and rice rolls with mushrooms, as well as the baked barbecue pork buns. Their menu is massive, so come with a group if you want to try lots of items.
With dim sum served daily, this is a lovely, family-style Chinese restaurant perfect for sharing a meal. Dive into the baked crispy egg tarts, fried turnip cake, barbecue duck buns, rice crêpes with beef and cilantro and stuffed eggplant. And, for dessert, try steamed sponge cake, pumpkin taro cake, baked pineapple buns and coconut cake. Located downtown, it's a great lunch spot for when you're craving dim sum.
The seafood dim sum at Tasty Noodle is definitely where it’s at when it comes to solid dim sum. Nibble on deep fried shrimp wontons, scallops with shrimp dumplings and a variety of seafood skewers. And, try the shrimp with peaches – you might not expect this to be a good combo, but it is. For those who aren't fans of seafood, try the fried ginger beef, lemongrass chicken, onion cake, pork dumpling or pan fried eggplant dim sum.
Sure, they serve up some of unique foods, such as beef stomach, tendon and chicken feet, but they also serve up some mainstream items that are delicious. The lemongrass chicken skewers, pork buns and shrimp cakes, green peppers with pork and shrimp and spare ribs are all delectable. For dessert, sample some salted egg yolk cream buns.
Simple, quick and darn good, this fast food restaurant still makes our cut for top dim sum. Though less adventurous than other picks, our favs are the stuffed tofu, peach yum yum prawns, chicken wings and barbecue pork slices.
