This unique destination bakery first opened its doors in Edmonton in 1956. Owner Eugene Edelman created a name for the bakery with its premium-quality, natural, handcrafted goods. When he retired in 1988, couple Hilton and Michelle Dinner took the helm and, while they have expanded the menu of goods available, they remain true to the original concept and recipes.
Bonton is one of my favourite bakeries in Edmonton. They have such a large array of things that you can order. They make fresh artisanal bread, and their sourdough bread is delicious for sandwiches. For those with a sweet tooth, they have a huge selection of sweets, from cookies and cakes to sweet buns and more! One of my favourite things to get here are their sticky buns!
The Bon Ton Bakery creates European pastries and breads, and my top picks are the whole wheat and rustic loaves. These hearty breads will fill you up and taste great, too. Try the organic carrot pumpkin seed or the cranberry raisin nut. Bon Ton has a nice selection of jams and jellies, as well.
