They serve the best Polish food in Toronto! My all time favorite restaurant ever!❤
We've been coming to this restaurant for over 10 years. Tonight however was a nightmare. Not the food, but the service. Being the only two people there, we were privy to an hour long belligerent conversation with the customer service representative of a phone company. When we complained about this, the wait staff and the owner decided our complaint was not worth listening to. Before long we were shouted out of the restaurant. We will no longer frequent this establishment.
Previous diners already mentioned sticky tables and gloomy lights - we were amazed at the sight, but hoped that the food would made up for it. What a disappointment! It was one of the worst restaurant visit for the past several years... Cabbage rolls were overcooked and tasted like potato. Steak was overcooked as well and was uneatable. Beer was pretty disgusting - I believe it was Tyske - not sure if this is correct. The only thing that was good - side vegetables pickled Polish-style, but you can buy those in food stores on Ronsesvalles. There was one waitress for the entire place and surely she didn't run around to serve everyone.
The restaurant is gloomy, tables are sticky, service is below average - is this what's called "European atmosphere"? Highly doubtful. Food was partially OK (traditional Polish salads and mashed potatoes).Steak was below average, shrimps were just bad and cabbage rolls were overcooked. Beer tasted below average. Front page of the menu says "live piano music every Saturday from 6 to 10 pm" - no live music, although the piano was there. Overall impression is below average, the restaurant seems stuck in the 70-s era.
This small place has a "European" atmosphere and the food is plentiful and terrific. A great value for the price! We tried traditional Polish fare and it was all terrific, in particular the potato pancakes and schnitzel. The kids (aged 8 and 11) enjoyed it too. My only issue was with the service. Our waitress was very friendly and our order was served promptly, but she tended to disappear for periods of time, making it difficult to get our table cleared, get our bill, etc.
