If you've ever brought home a piece of dry cleaning or walked past a dry cleaner, you probably remember the distinct smell that comes with it. Dry cleaning involves bathing clothes in petrochemicals or liquid silicone. It’s a process that releases harmful chemicals into the air, water and soil.

In a neighbourhood that has a history of supporting eco-friendly causes, Riverdale Cleaners hopes to change consumer habits with a toxin-free technique. “Wet cleaning is an entirely different process," says Caullyn Godfrey, owner of Riverdale Cleaners. "It uses very little water, very little detergent and uses mostly mechanical agitation to clean the clothes and then they’re hand-finished. Air is blown through the garment instead of going through a heat press that they use at a dry cleaner. Then it’s hand-finished with an iron,”

    Shirt Kings!

    Shirt Kings! I started using Riverdale Cleaners about a year ago, I visit every other week, having 12 shirts, a suit and a few pants done each turn. My clothes have never looked better, and I rely on my clothes for work. Reliably, my shirts are clean, soft, and well pressed - these guys are the shirk kings! I don't mind having my suits cleaned more often, they do solvent free cleaning, no wear and tear, and pressed like the tailor shop. Overall, I give them 5 of 5 stars.

    The owner is not only an amazing person, his staff are amazing and he may be one of the best tailors in the city If I ever move I will drive to come here, no matter the distance.

    Had my Saville Ro...

    Had my Saville Road suit cleaned here, I was very nervous about wet cleaning, but my suit is beautiful, they even fixed the hem in my trouser leg without asking. Very nice store, and the service was pretty great.
