I've been eating at the family run and operated Sher-e-Punjab for years and it's always been my tried and true 'go to' for really delicious, authentic Indian fare. The atmosphere and service is great and the food never disappoints! The naan is probably the best I've had in the city (fresh, fluffy and hot) and the dishes are always fresh and tasty. The Chicken Tikka Masala and Sizzling Platter are outstanding as well. The portion sizes are perfect for sharing and the prices very reasonable. The atmosphere is cozy and colourful. I highly recommend this restaurant and consider it one of my favourite places to go to in the city.
I'm quite surprised by all the excellent reviews for the food here, I have eaten in Indian restaurants allover North America and in the UK and found this to be one of the worst experiences as far as the food was concerned. The atmosphere was lovely and the service was fine, but for me the food was very bland (I had asked for somewhere between medium and hot), it didn't seem fresh or colourful or presented with any care. Everything was brown and seemed oily. The vegetable pakoras were fine, but everything else was a let down. It was also the first time my dining partner was having Indian food and I felt badly that this was their first experience with it. From the other reviews it seems like they have loyal customers and a kind family atmosphere, maybe they just need to pick up some slack in the food department.
Its a pretty nice and romantic place. The food portion is very small for the price they charge. Usually they give dessert but the last time I went, they did not give me any.
I just love everything about this iconic Danforth landmark! The food was absolutely addictive, the Singh family so friendly and efficient, and the ambiance: completely soothing and seductive. What's more, there is even a wonderful accessories and clothing shop just upstairs on the second floor - also run by the Singh family - for added gifts of the fineries of India. We will put this place on our A-list for sure!
We went to this restaurant because we had heard great things. The decor was nice. The food was pretty mediocre, and the price was higher compared to other Indian restaurants where you can get better quality and more quantity for less. Although the portions looked pretty small, Indian food is always quite heavy and it filled us up. Although I wouldn't mind going to this place again, I wouldn't go out of my way to suggest it.

Greektown has more to offer than just Greek food. It might seem unusual to find an Indian restaurant in this ethnic enclave but the locals aren’t complaining. They’re too busy enjoying a variety of authentic Indian meals in this gorgeous eatery on the Danforth. Sher-E-Punjab features a warm, richly-decorated dining room and quaint outdoor patio. Their colourful dishes look magazine-worthy, and the rich, intense flavours are worth repeat visits – but you can save yourself the trip. They offer free delivery to your home or business for a minimum order of $30; it’s a $5 fee for smaller orders.
