Best shawarma in Ontario

I make sure to eat here every time I'm in Ottawa. I've never had a shawarma plate that even comes close to what they serve here. The shawarma wraps are also great. The garlic potatoes are also MUST have.

Not the best, but not horrible

I decided to try out this place on Rideau St after reading all the positive reviews on the place, some even saying it was the best place in the city for Shawarma. Well, I'll start off by saying those people were most likely visiting Shawarma Palace after a night out at the bar. Because the food wasn't all that great, the service was rushed (felt like the McD of shawarma places) and the atmosphere... Well the place has seen better days. The prices were average, pretty much the same price you'd pay anywhere in town for Shawarma pita or platter. While I can't comment first hand on the serving sizes (as I only ordered pitas), the people who had ordered platters seemed to have a plate loaded with food. The pitas were pretty small, and at a price of 6.25$ each, I was expecting a little more to be honest. I've visited other establishments that offered cheaper prices and bigger pitas. Taste-wise, the chicken Shawarma pita was okay, they loaded it with sauce which ended up making the last few bites extremely soggy and a bit hard on the taste buds. The beef Shawarma pita I really did not enjoy. I'm not sure if it was the combination of spices they used on the meat itself, but I just couldn't get through it, not even half. The garlic potatoes were great, I'll give them that. Make sure to get the garlic sauce drenched on top of them, delicious. All in all, it was an okay meal. Might be better suited to those looking for something a little more exotic than pizza after a booze-filled evening.

Best chicken platter in ottawa! Love the potatotes, garlic sauce, rice. Friendly service. Not sure if they are opened 24/7 but I always go very late at night (around 1-2 am) and it is always packed!

Grab a bite late at night: 24-hour restaurants in Ottawa

Typically open until 1:00 a.m. during the week, this popular shawarma joint offers you a wide selection of huge shawarma wraps that are stuffed with pickles, tabbouleh, potatoes, and more. Keep in mind the atmosphere is very casual, since the dining area is more suited to a quick bite than a full-service meal. Be sure to try out the falafel sandwiches.

Canada’s capital city showcases food from around the world and thanks to a large influx of immigrants of Lebanese heritage there are now shawarma joints on every street corner. Locals will happily share their personal favourites but Shawarma Palace on Rideau Street is arguably one of the city’s best. If you’re dining with a group, tuck into generous platters of shaved meat, fresh salad, earthy hummus, potatoes and the most ethereal garlic sauce. A chicken platter with pita bread easily serves two. Paired with canned or bottled drinks, a family of four could feast for less than $60.
